SMASH: SLIPPY

Description

I think the reason there is less call for more Starfox characters is that after Falco and Wolf, it seems hard to imagine a moveset that isn't just a derivation of Fox's.
For Slippy I tried to move in a completely different direction and, considering how heavily he is associated with his mechanical prowess, paired him with a small, remote controlled gun turret.
Based on the "Hop Bot" robot (albeit with a little froggy flair) the turret can either be carried around on Slippy's back or set up in a static location and controlled from afar to perform special attacks, all of which can be used both remotely or while mounted on Slippy.

SLIPPY
NEUTRAL -Laser- The turret shoots a simple laser, not dissimilar to those of Fox and Falco's blaster and offers covering fire while Slippy himself delivers physical attacks.
SIDE -Missile- A missile is fired from the turrets eyehole. Like's Snake's similar ability from Brawl, the missile is fully controllable but Slippy remains static while doing so.
UP -Jetpack Boost- When the turret is on his back, Slippy gets a powerful boost upwards. When detached from the turret he uses a small backup pack which only offers a small recovery ability.
DOWN -Destruct- Allows Slippy to remotely detonate the turret, causing a new one to manifest on his back and damage anybody caught up in the explosion. Tactically destructing the turret when launched will offer an immediate boost to the jetpack ability.
FINAL -SALVO- A huge barrage of lasers and missiles erupt from the turret. For balance perhaps this will automatically destruct the turret and fire directly from Slippy.

Why SLIPPY?
Many people list Krystal as the next Starfox character they'd like to see. I have already featured her myself: professorfandango.deviantart.c… though that was mostly in an effort to get a more original moveset out of the Starfox series. Ultimately I think Slippy deserves the place more; As does Peppy, but I don't think Peppy has quite as much battle potential. He's been around since the start and has made a number of significant Smash cameos plus I don't dislike him as much as some people so I'd like to see him in battle!

What are his chances?
Good! Nintendo have said that it was "hearing fans pleas" that secured Lucas a place in 3DS/Wii U so one can only assume that they've heard the echoes of "No More Landmasters" but must at least have considered more Starfox characters. Plus, there's a new game in the works, one that should be out later this year so unless there's some brand new character who gets crowbarred in then I thing the toady lad is very high on the list. As high as Krystal or Wolf? Maybe not, but you never know.

VERDICT
Likely!

Ah yes, seeing a Star Fox Fighter that does not wield a blaster in Smash Bros. someday would indeed be a nice addition.
