Really it should have been called The Abominable Snowcrablobsterthing but there wasn't enough space.

:iconzimeta08: is having herself a contest [link] with some amazing prizes and I am entering here.

The contest is to design an "anthro" of a lesser known animal so I chose the kiwa hirsuta or Yeti Crab [link]

I don't know how I'll fare in the contest because I don't think I made him human enough to be considered a true "anthro" but I like the design and will probably use him again.

I would have liked to put a little more into the background but I was stuck using Photoshop Elements which has the nasty habit of changing layers whenever I undo a mistake so this already took a lot longer than it should have.

Oh yeah, and how did I come up with the design?
Well the scarf is supposed to represent the creatures antennae which is why it tapers at the ends and since the Yeti Crab is a decapod I wanted to try to fit the rest of the legs on.
So I made a small abdominal area where four vestigial claws could hang from which would then mean moving the scarf around the back so you could see them.
That proved too hard to draw, didn't look right and interfered with the arms so I ended up covering the tiny claws with the scarf anyway.
When he removes his scarf for BATTLE MODE the limbs extend and his horrific mouth is also revealed.

I don't know how I managed to overlook this drawing before, but it's very funny!

This is Brilliant!!!

It's very rare that I find an obscure or newly discovered species as an anthro!

Top Notch! :thumbsup::D

Well it#s very rare that I draw an anthro so I guess I just got lucky with this one. Thanks!

Sorry for not commenting sooner on your works and there's a few I still need to comment on.

Your character design is very interesting. Do you ink traditionally or on the computer? Crabs are interesting creatures. Personally Lobsters interest me more, lol! Maybe because I wouldn't mind eating one in some la-de-da restaurant one day. Ah...I really am bad at commenting on peoples works. Hey look over there! *Points and runs away.*

Well, it's not compulsory for you to comment at all.
Yeah, lobsters are cool, but I don't like the taste of them.
And yes I ink traditionally, scan, touch up, etc.

I'd ink traditionally if my hand didn't spaz out and ruin my pics.=( Really should give it a go again now I have a light box, can save the originals for once...

Oh I'm not particularly good at inking, that's why I always need to touch up the lines once they're scanned.

This is by far, one of the most impressive pieces I've seen you do. Color-wise, that is!

Oh but the drawing stinks, is that it?

It's interesting you should say that though, since I didn't really do anything different for this picture, perhaps it's just because I used a few less obvious colours that people are noticing them?
