SMASH 150 - 064 - PEPPY

The coveted 64th place in  this project goes to one of the most respected rabbit in the cosmos.

I already had Fox, Falco and Slippy. It wouldn't have been right if I hadn't included Peppy. Three parts of a four part team? No way! So he was included as part of the 'General Nintendo characters' side of this project.
Of course, couldn't every character be somehow crowbarred into a feasible moveset? Maybe! If Cranky Kong can be payable in a Donkey Kong game then I don't see why Peppy can't get his hands dirty once in a while.

Of course, the thing that gets complicated is how the Starfox characters stats would differ. Falco has a high jump because he is a bird, which is an aerial creature. But Slippy is a toad, a creature known for their jumping prowess and indeed, in Starfox Assault Slippy has the highest jump. Then was about Peppy? He's a hare, another animal known for jumping! What are we to do?

Anyway one could assume that Peppy is a little slower since he's the oldest of the Starfox team and so maybe he could carry heavier weaponry. It's not relevant to the main Starfox shooters but Assault did introduce a pretty diverse arsenal that never got used anywhere else.

As I mentioned with Slippy, the Starfox series really doubled down on story development before the reboot (and maybe that's why Nintendo rebooted it, because they love the status quo) to such a point that General Pepper died (but not really, but come on they just chickened out) and was replaced with Peppy, who was far too old to be out in the field and had presumably lost his Pep.

I feel like the worst casualty was Pigma, who got assimilated into the insecto-robo-tribe (as they were called in Europe) and then became a Rubik's cube.

Of course now that's all over and we're back to square one. So Peppy in young(ish) and ready to take on more sequels!
