SMASH: POOCHY

Description

POOCHY
NEUTRAL -Lick- Poochy uses his tremendous tongue to lick his opponent! This causes them to move more slowly for a short period of time, longer the more damage they've sustained.
SIDE -Trample- The peculiarly un-nosed mutt breaks out into a charge which passes through enemies and has super armour at startup.
UP -White Shy Guy- A mystrious friend helps out by ferrying Poochy to safety. His propeller will sting anybody who touches it.
DOWN -Snack- Back when I was considering Mr. Peepers: professorfandango.deviantart.c… I had this as an attack. Poochy will furiously dig into the ground, unearthing a bone (or occasionally other things) which will land a heavy hit. What makes this unique is that the projectile moves in the opposite direction to that which you're facing.
FINAL -TOUCH FUZZY GET DIZZY- Remember when I said how disappointed I was that Kirby's Final Smash had been changed and so gave it to Grill? Well Luigi's "Negative Zone" gets a new lease of life as a perplexing aura inspired by the best known gag in Yoshi's Island. The freaky spores will manifest a sphere around Poochy which, when entered causes all sorts of crazy things to happen like speed changes, random damage, sleeping and so on.

Why POOCHY?
Donkey Kong has Diddy Kong and many people are casting for a new DK character, Wario only arrived last game and many people are casting for a new Wario character, but there's one Mario spin-off that's been around since the first Smash which has yet to receive a second representative. (I'm talking about the Yoshi series, you guys.)
But there's a good reason for that. While Donkey Kong and Wario broke away from the Mario mould so far as to be in different 'universes,' the Yoshi series is heavily tied to Mario, since it still technically exists in his past and there has a lot of overlapping characters and I don't think that will ever change. So while I did consider the likes of Kamek, he still originates from the Mario series being that he's scarcely different from any other Magikoopa (It seems that the European translations are more closely following the Japanese than the American these days so most Magikoopas are referred to as 'Kameks' over here now) so I really wanted a character who could only ever be considered a Yoshi character. One who hasn't appeared in any Mario game (except occasional cameos, I guess) and I'll be damned if I'm giving credence to any bloody babies so there's only really one soul who can take that spot.
Poochy is Yoshi's dependable dog(?) buddy who appears in the first Yoshi's Island. Then again in Yoshi's Story. Again in Yoshi's Island DS and once more in Yoshi's New Island. Now he's set to take a role in Yoshi's Woolley World and even gets a spot on the cover art! He's been in every core Yoshi game and that's the kind of legacy that deserves recognition!
Of course his roles are quite small so a moveset is not an easy task but I did my best...

What are his chances?
WELL. Who knows. Broadly speaking, not so good. I think he had a sticker in Brawl but otherwise has never appeared in Smash but his persistence in the Yoshi series might be enough to get him noticed sooner rather than later...!

VERDICT
Whether he makes it or not, Poochy will always be there to help you out!
